GCSIRENS.NET is a divison of MSCG Inc. We are a group of volunteers that work hand-in-hand with Gensee County, MI.
However, we have no official affiliation with Genesee County, nor its Office of Emergency Management.
The Amateur Radio community has been providing this valuable to service since 1979, and look forward to many more years of service!
Our only responsibility is to maintain this list of sirens, and observe and report those observations of sirens' operations.
GCSIRENS.NET is not responsible for the maintainance or repair of the county sirens, however we do report needed repairs directly
to the E.O.M (Office of Emergency Management)

• Siren testing is done on the first Saturday of the month, at 1 pm.
• Siren Testing runs from March through November.
• You do not have to be a Licensed Ham, nor a member of MSCG Inc. / GC-ARPSC to participate,
  the general public is always welcome! - Reports can be phoned or text'd to 810-545-7260
• Please try to check into the net between 1200 and 1300hrs to annouce your siren location.
• See the official letter from Genesee County for the 2022 Testing Schedule.
• Visit the Siren List to select Sirens.
  Priority for Checking sirens is reccomended as:
  1. "Request to Check"
  2. "Unchecked"
  3. Not "Operational"
  4. Oldest 'Checked Last' first
  5. Any others
  You may check any siren you wish, If you are willing to travel, please follow the above suggestions.
• The sirens need to be checked as follows:
  
  1. The Siren horn rotates on its post.
  2. For the first stage, the Siren produces an up-and-down tone.
  3. for the second part of the 1st stage, the siren should stop at 1 minute
     Please report if it does not stop at one minute.
  4. For the 2nd stage, the Siren produces a steady tone.
     (There will be a slight up and down sound from the siren rotating)
     
  5. for the second part of the 2nd stage, the siren should stop at 1 minute
     Please report if it does not stop at one minute.
  6. Current for 2019, the sirens are being tested with the Solid Tones only, for the full 3 minutes. This is the plan until further notice.
  7. The siren blasts in the correct sequence.
  8. Anything else out of the ordinary.

We are responsible ONLY for reporting the status of the sirens back to the County. It is the responsibility of ONLY the local municipalities to ensure the sirens are serviced.
Please do not attempt to the contact the County directly with Siren Status reports. They do not have the man-power or the time to handle individual reports. That is what we are for. If you want to follow up on the status of any given siren, you must contact your local municipality.
